Air Conditioning and Heating

 

All apartments have their own individually controlled air conditioning unit allowing you to regulate the apartment temperature for your own comfort. The remote control is located in a remote cradle within the lounge room.

 

Please be conscious of the environment and turn off the air conditioning and heating when you are leaving the apartment.

 

To operate, press the START/STOP button. MODE will allow you to choose between AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN and HEAT. Select the desired temperature by pressing up and down using the SET TEMP. button. 

 

Please avoid turning the air conditioning unit to its highest (32 degrees) and its lowest (17 degrees) temperatures as this may result in the unit overheating and shutting down. We recommend setting the temperature at 22 degrees.

Building Entry 

 

The main entrance to Manhattan Apartments - Glen Iris is located down a walkway from Tooronga Road. You will need to swipe your security card every time you enter the building (including accessing the building from the car park). For your security and that of other guests please ensure the door clicks shut after you enter or leave.

 

Car Parking 

 

Underground secure car parking spaces are available within our building for our guests at a additional charge. Please contact our Guest Services Department to request a car space. 

 

Check Out Time 

 

Check out time for Manhattan Apartments - Glen Iris is 10:00 am. 

 

Cooktop, Range Hood and Oven

 

To operate the Cooktop select the desired setting by turning the knob for the hot plate you wish to use.

 

To operate the Rangehood pull the rangehood out and towards you. The switches for the light and fan are located at the rear right of the unit. Always use the range-hood exhaust fan when using the cooktop and oven to prevent fire alarm system being activated. Failure to do so may result in the MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade) attending and additional charges may be incurred. 

 

To operate the Oven turn the temperature dial to the desired temperature and the selector dial to oven or grill, and set the timer for the length of cooking required. If you don’t wish to use a timer please turn the dial to the left which will allow you to cook for any length of time. The oven indicator light should come on when baking or grilling.

Dishwasher

 

A starter pack of dishwashing tablets/powder is located in the cupboard under the sink in the kitchen. Additional tablets or powder can be purchased from your local supermarket. Please use only powder or tablets specifically marked for dishwasher use in the dishwasher as detergent dishwashing liquids will damage the machine and guests will be liable for any resulting service charges.

 

To operate this dishwasher push in the on/off button and check that the indicator light comes on. Use the program selection knob to select your desired wash program. Press the start/cancel button to start to selected wash program; the light on the button will light up. When the cycle is finished the end led indicator will light up.

 

If you need to cancel the wash cycle part way through, press the start/stop button for 3 seconds. The machine will drain the water inside (this takes approximately 45 seconds).  The program cancellation is complete when the washing light goes off.

Housekeeping 

 

The linen in your apartment has been laundered prior to your arrival. If you have requested housekeeping, our Guest Services Team will contact you by email to confirm the schedule for this service.  If no housekeeping service has been requested, subsequent laundering of linen is your responsibility for the duration of your stay. Please ensure that linen is cared for and that white towels and sheets are not washed with coloured items. If you didn’t schedule regular housekeeping but have changed your mind please contact our Guest Services Team. 

 

Do not hang any wet laundry over the furniture. Doing so will cause damage to the wood or soft furnishings, for which guests are liable. 

 

 

Ironing Facilities 

 

An iron and ironing board are located in the laundry area/wardrobe of your apartment.  

 

Lift 

 

To activate the lift press either the up or down button and select the floor number you wish to go to.  In case of fire evacuation, DO NOT use the lift. 

 

Mail - Incoming 

 

Your personal mailbox is located at the entrance to the building and a key is provided on your key ring. If you receive mail for a past guest in your post box please leave this in the mailbox marked Manhattan Apartments. 

 

When vacating your apartment, remember to redirect your mail to your forwarding address. This can be done online: https://auspost.com.au/receiving/manage-your-mail/redirect-hold-mail

or in person with Australia Post.

Open 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

 

 

General Maintenance / Property Condition Reporting 

 

Your apartment has been inspected by our housekeeping team prior to your arrival.  If you notice any damage upon check in that may have been overlooked, please notify our Guest Services team at [email protected] within the first few days of your stay.  This will help us log the issue and prevent any complications during check out.   

 

Should you experience any equipment failure or difficulty in your apartment please contact Guest Services on 9279 7200 or email [email protected]. For routine maintenance, office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

 

Should you require emergency maintenance assistance out of these hours, please call the office number above and follow the prompts to be connected with our on-call emergency maintenance personnel.  

 

Emergency Maintenance requiring urgent after-hours assistance is defined as:

 

• Blocked or broken toilet systems;  

• Serious roof leaks;  

• Gas leaks;  

• Dangerous electrical faults;  

• Flooding or serious flood damage;  

• Serious storm or fire damage;  

• Failure or breakdown of any essential service or appliance for hot water, water,  heating or cooling;  

• Failure or breakdown of gas, electricity or water supplies;  

• Any fault or damage that makes the premises unsafe or unlivable. 

 

 

Microwave Oven 

 

No metal utensils, metal plates, oyster shells, tin foil or any other metal object should be placed in the microwave or convection microwave at any time. 

 

Noise 

 

In consideration of other guests, please ensure that your television, stereo and radio volumes are at a comfortable level so as not to disturb your neighbours.  When leaving your apartment for an extended period, please ensure the alarm clock siren is off as these alarms cannot be remotely deactivated and will sound for one hour.  

 

Rubbish 

 

General rubbish bins (RED LID) are provided at the entrance to the car park in the basement (B1). All general refuse should be tied in plastic bags before disposing of via the bins provided.

 

Recycling rubbish bins (YELLOW LID) are also located at the entrance to the car park in the basement (B1). Please fold cardboard boxes flat before placing in recycling bins. 

 

Smoking - All Apartments are Non Smoking

 

All Manhattan Apartments rooms are non-smoking. Should you or any of your visitors wish to smoke please use the balcony or courtyard (if available) and keep the door to the apartment closed to prevent smoke entering the apartment. If you have a balcony an ashtray has been provided for your use. Please dispose of cigarette butts thoughtfully. Do not throw cigarette butts over the balcony. 

 

All apartments are fitted with smoke detectors. Smoking in the apartment will trigger an automatic call to emergency services. Emergency services may charge for their service if alarms are triggered by the occupant or their visitors smoking inside. Any such charges will be payable by the guest.  

 

Television

 

Your apartment television is programmed to receive a number of free to air channels via the Foxtel cable TV service. Activate your TV by pressing the POWER button on your remote control. Select your channels as desired.   Please feel free to log into any of your personal streaming services and perhaps set yourself a reminder to log off streaming services before departure.

 

 

Visitors to your apartment 

 

The visitor intercom is located outside the main entrance to Manhattan Apartments - Glen Iris. Allow access using the intercom in your apartment.  This will provide your visitor access to the lobby and lift. There is no visitor parking on site, however, on street parking is available in the vicinity of the property .  Please ensure your visitors are aware of parking restrictions as the council is very active with ticketing.

 

Washer/Dryer 

 

A starter pack of laundry powder is provided on your washing machine. Additional laundry powder can be purchased at your local supermarket. Please ensure when purchasing additional laundry powder that you only purchase those products marked for TOP LOADING washing machines. 

 

To operate the Washing Machine:

  • Load the washing machine
  • Put in washing liquid or powder ensuring it is designed for top load washing machines
  • Select the required water level and water temp
  • Set the desired wash cycle by pressing the buttons on the top of the machine to the desired setting.
  • Press the start button to begin cycle
  • The machine will complete the wash cycle automatically

 

To operate the dryer:

  • Load clothes into dryer and close the door firmly
  • Set the required temperature by turning the dial clockwise
  • Set the desired temperature by turning the dial clockwise
  • To start the dryer press the Door Safety Switch on the door
